I rarely go into the ladies area at my gym unless it is to practice my posing so yesterday out of curiousity I wandered through the ladies area just to see if anything had changed in there lately. As usual everything was the same and absolutely nothing had changed. They still have the 2-3 lb dumbbells and there was that thigh toner machine that is NEVER used and for good reason. It was looking at this machine that made me think, ugh not another spot reducing concept.  I just want to make it clear that SPOT REDUCING IS A MYTH! If you have extra fat on your hips, doing that any machine will NOT reduce the fat on your thighs. If you have excess fat on your stomach, you can do a thousands of crunches but it will never reduce the fat on your abdominal area. Spot reducing methods do NOT work!!! In order to reduce fat in any particular area of your body, you must lose fat all over your body. So understand you cannot replace fat with muscle or spot reduce fat in a particular area by focusing on exercising only that area.
